Our Staff: Sleep Technicians

Eastern Iowa Sleep Center is proud of the expertise and experience our sleep technicians bring to their work. Their slogan is: "We stay awake so you don't have to!"

Sleep Technicians

Your sleep technician will:

  • Prepare you for your sleep study
  • Give you the instructions you may need during the course of your study
  • Chart your sleep stages, airflow, pulse rate, oxygen level along with other measurements
  • Look for events such as abnormal breathing or leg movements

The study will be reviewed by an EISC board-certified sleep medicine physician to determine the sleep disorder you may have. The results will be reported to your physician that requested the study and they will review the results with you.

The majority of our technicians are Registered Polysomnographic Technolgists™ (RPSGT). This certification by the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists (BRPT) is an internationally recognized credential representing the highest certification in the field for the health care professionals who clinically assess patients with sleep disorders.

To become RPSGT-certified, a technologist must have necessary clinical experience, core knowledge, skills, abilities and attributes, hold CPR certification or its equivalent, adhere to the standards of conduct and pass the RPSGT credentialing exam. These credentialed technologists have made a commitment to professionalism, competence and ethics by meeting the BRPT standards for certification.
